Dated 1823 and numbered 8, this violin is described in the assembled documentation as one of Jean-Baptiste Vuillaume’s earliest known works. Its Stradivari-inspired model, one-piece flamed maple back and orange-red varnish over a golden ground reflect his early Paris period.

The collection brochure records a spruce top, flamed maple ribs and scroll, a body length of 359 mm. It also records the maker’s label and a signature on the top.

The violin was unveiled at the Maison Jean-Baptiste Vuillaume in Mirecourt, restored by Alain Carbonare. Now preserved in Israel according to the collection’s records, it shares the project’s purpose: to be cared for, shown and heard.
