The Foundation
An edifice built by playing.
L’Édifice Éternel brings together a collection of instruments, a practice of creation and a work of transmission, between France and Israel.

Our vision
An exceptional instrument is not a display object. It is a state of matter waiting for a hand. Our first commitment is therefore simple: what is preserved must be played, and what is played must be documented.
The project holds a Jewish and Zionist anchoring, expressed in one way only: contributing concretely to cultural life in Israel, by bringing instruments, artists and gatherings there. This anchoring excludes no one; listening is the most universal place we know.
Three geographies answer one another. France, where the instruments are made and restored. Mirecourt, where the craft was handed down for centuries. Israel, where the collection finds its destination and its audience.
The people
Noam Semecas
Founder · development
Founder of L’Édifice Éternel. He gathers the collection, chooses the instruments entrusted to artists, and builds relations with musicians, venues, institutions and supporters, in France and in Israel.
Mazarine Carbonare
Violin maker · transmission
Violin maker, trained in the Mirecourt workshop. She watches over the condition of the instruments, follows the loans over time and leads the encounters with young artists: the workshop’s craft passes through her before reaching the stage.
Alain Carbonare
Master violin maker · Mirecourt
Master violin maker in Mirecourt, where he saved Jean-Baptiste Vuillaume’s family house. In his workshop he has made several hundred instruments, among them the violin presented to Yehudi Menuhin in 1993 and a cello made for Mstislav Rostropovich’s seventieth birthday.
